Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Legit or not worth it? Changes to improve it? I'm considering trying it.

I tried to let chrome translate the comments on that fujiwara sharpening video... lol.

Haha. I'd love to know what he is saying

@charon
nice sharpening video! i like that "polishingstick" that he has.. awesome idea and i will build something like that with leather on a stick and jnat mud

@Krassi if you are having trouble you may try and ask Maxim(jns) or Greg Gola (wabocho). Im certain Greg uses one

hi charon!
well thanks for the tip.. i just needed this idea! its super obvious that this will work awesome and with this long log like thing i can put preasure safely and vertical on one spot and dondt cut myself.. easy idea but looks very effective!
i also got lots of smaller jnats i can sacrifice for mud making ;))..

ill try to think of a cool do it your self way and still got lots of smooth leather here and well i need to go to a hardwarestore and buy some stuff .. since i like building improvised stuff ill just try something and if its not working ill remodel it ;)

cool ;) i am having holidays finally and i want to renew my knife collection.. well its wellness for me to sharpen and polish this stuff! ;)

I went to sleep at about 5 minutes. Did he ever do anything interesting besides wave his knife around?

With youtube you can fast foward if it does not catch your interest. I thought the presentation at the end was masterful

For sure this must have been posted before, a 3 part series on stone mining in Kyoto:

Re: Hocho Shiki

wow i can totally imagine someone doing that in front of the Emperor, and any mistake resulting in instant execution.
