Any makers who would consider regrind/refinish projects?

I’ve got this munetoshi bloomery kurouchi gyuto that I adore, but would like for it to get a little more weight loss than my time or equipment can handle at this point. Would like to thin the bevels and tip and also be nice to convert to a fully polished kasumi. Does anyone know any makers who’d be willing take on this kind of project?

DC, JKI for USA

RockChopKnifeCo on IG does really nice thinning and polishing

Had a great experience with @Blank Blades but I think he’s tied up in multiple projects currently

Guess it depends on what exactly you're looking for.

Someone to raise the shinogi on belts and then give a finger stone finish on the bevels? JKI can probably do that for you, if they have time to take on a project like that. Evan at Strata could also do it, again, if he has capacity. They're the shops I'd recommend and, personally, I'd wait until they had capacity to do it rather than ship it elsewhere. Craig at CKC I know has the skills, but I haven't seen them take on major work like that previously, but wouldn't hurt to ask I guess.

Looking for someone to raise the shinogi, set geometry on stones, and give it a full stone-based kasumi polish? Almost certainly not. No money to be made in that business, nobody wants to spend the value (or more) of their knife on a polish job.

I think RockChop is the only guy crazy enough to do a full stone polish on it. No clue on pricing but I would imagine it being considerable
I reckon you would be pleasantly surprised.

Without wanting to put words in his mouth I think he’s still very much wanting to build his reputation and is currently pricing his work well under what it’s worth - wouldn’t hurt to ask for a quote.

He certainly does seem to be more about passion and his craft than making a buck.

RockChop - Steve is an honest, fair and reasonable man. If the shipping cost doesn’t get in the way of a good and mutually satisfactory bargain, I’d go with him!
