Hey y'all,

Looking to get into the natural stone game and get more practice with my polishing. I have a good amount of synthetic stones already, I'm looking for mainly course to medium grit natural stones. If anyone has any they think would be great for a beginner at a reasonable price please let me know!

You want really good coarse synth. I would suggest going up to 1k then mikawa

Below 2-3k there is NOTHING in the JNat world worth messing with IMO. Synthetics passed them in performance in the 60s and the gap has only gotten wider.

As others have said, a midgrit like and Aizu or Natsuya is a good place to start and also about as coarse as one should go. Mikawa can also be good, actually the best, but the range is so huge and some of them are not at all user friendly…

Coarse ish aoto can be pretty fast. Certain saeki are also really fast -- gave my cerax 320 a run for its money. Coarse aoto are funny cause they actually have some very very sharp grit, like a 220 grit stone, but then most of the rest of the grit is like 800. Of course aoto vary. Reddish aoto are faster usually. For coarse synths, cerax 320 is good for sheet speed, a gesshin 220 or other pink stone is good for even coarse removal but the stone drying can get in the way, shapton or rockstar 500 can be good, too
