This used to be one of the best American-made carbon knife profiles; the Dexter 489x. But it's not anymore.
Pft. Why buy that, when you can have this beauty for only $85 + $10.10 S+H?

Ouch!

Talk about oversharpening.
This once had this profile:

As a J.A.Henckels collector I do have some interest in knives like the first image; I'd like to re-profile one like that into a honesuki. But I think this particular knife is just too far gone to do anything with.

Would make a mean letter opener.

Only a bit cringey this one, not quite horrific:

Mostly because of the seller's item's description which reads: Nice patina, needs some restoration or love.
The "patina" description is just a bit of a stretch, as is the BIN price of $69 (+S&H), but I'm hard-pressed to call the condition of this steel as actual patina. Not to mention the state of the handle.
Now, this is a righteous K.C.Seelbach Solingen cleaver which looks to be in pretty good shape under all the dust and rust, and it most certainly could be rehabilitated.
Hopefully someone with a little more cash and time for repair can look after this one.
A soft wire cup brush on an angle grinder makes short work of that type of rust. It would probably take me around fifteen minutes total. Leaves the steel with a blue tint that isn't at all objectionable.

Vinegar soak works too but it will make the quench line pop out.
