Curious what people think this is worth? I purchased for $1.05 and can't imagine I'd lose on a Wusthof.

After cleaning it up, I'd consider maybe $10. Depends how much is left after fixing the edge (reprofile, thin and resharpen). It looks pretty close to the little indent things.

Looks to be an Emeril branded version of the Grand Prix II line, without the full bolster.

I think these are the same blades as the Wüsthof Gourmet line, but the handle shaped like the Grand Prix series referenced above. I think these are a small step above the molded polypropylene handled Wüsthof and Henckeld you find at places like Home Goods and Marshalls these days. Here's what a new one retails for, but I'd guess can be found for ~$60.00 with some searching or little less at a discount retailer:

It has definitely lost some height, but I would definitely snag it for something to play around with. I think the tough part is these mass produced knives don't seem to have as much of a secondary market in a way an old carbon or well used J-knife does. Still a cool find imo.

It had really bad wear and tear, it was like someone took it to a brick. I sharpened it and the kireha has reached the spots. Not gunna lie the food release is still fine. Ima put it up for $20.00 and see if anyone low balls me

For $1.05 that’s fantastic, it’s not what people here will like, but you got yourself a solid guest knife, it probably looks nicer than most people’s knife out there.

At 1,05 you can at least use it as your dedicated frozen food knife. ;)

Just a fair warning before you go and try something stupid here. There's a long running thread we have to laugh at those who try to blatantly flip for profit. Even though I don't see this going for much of a profit once you factor in the work needed.

Maybe OK on reddit, but I guarantee you'll be infamous.

I suppose people are entitled to their own opinion. For me, its a great excuse for me to practice sharpening and otherwise rejuvenating products that others have given up hope for. If I can make a return on the time spent then I will be more inclined to continue breathing life into these all but deceased products. I ended up listing it for $5.00 and got a bite pretty much immediately. If you have a problem with that then go kick rocks :D

I considered this, it ended up having solid food release given its condition. Can never really go wrong with Santoku knives.

Wouldn't something like a cleaver be better for that use case? I feel like that would destroy the kareha on such a thin knife.

Forgot to not double post my b.

I can't say I encountered any problems using my Wusthof for frozen food and other abusive crap.

Well, aren't you special.

Should they say thanks for some of the grief they're getting? How dare the reddit refugees not be accustomed to this community yet. They must be a bunch of troglodytes. Similar used knives have sold recently online for more. Just because it's not the cup of tea for most forum members doesn't mean we have to **** on it.

I'm not saying everyone here is doing this. That said, if we want to grow this community, the expectations of knowing the mores and folkways of the community and knife superiority complexes do little to help that.

For the record, I'm not on board with knocking on the reddit folks.

I’m surprised how entitled this forum is. Did you guys know I could’ve listed the item for whatever I so pleased and there would be no issue with it. If someone wants it they will pay what they want to pay. Regardless of what you believe is fair. I don’t care what you guys think about it but your mindsets are outright disgusting. Except for Dan and XMSX, you guys are based

I just thinking flipping as a principle is wack. Also; I’m welcome to express my opinion without anyone liking it. If you don’t like it, there are rocks that could get kicked.
Agreed, I just didn’t think people were so entitled that they actually believe every knife in the garbage should go to a landfill. Or that the free market shouldn’t exist. Just a wild view I didn’t expect from this forum given it’s open market approach
