I've been a lurking the forum for some time and finally figured it was time to join this wonderful little group.

My primary interest is in sharpening (experienced hobbyist) and polishing (total novice), so you know where you'll find me!

Welcome. What kinds of knives do you sharpen?

Apologies for the late response. I promptly lost my login

Mostly western stainless, as that's what friends and family stock thier kitchens with as well as a few cheap tojiros and some "old hickory" knives that are far more fun. I have a few pocket knives I used to sharpen religiously for work, which is how I learned the basics of double bevel knives. Back then I had to cut hundrededs of linear feet of cardboard, tape and zip ties. Glad that's behind me.

I'll probably spend some more time lurking around here looking for a good recomendation for some classic japanese carbon, as I am a hopeless romantic when it comes to natural whetstones and history.
