Ugh, another knife ruined by this silly trend of overcompensating with ever taller knives...
Are people cutting with gauntlets on that they need 55 mm height for clearance?
But I have a lot to overcompensate for. That's why I like Sakai 270's, because I'm only man enough for a 255mm knife.

"Suit You Sir" Are you sure this isn't more appropriate. The Little Pecker as Robert DeNiro might call it.

Well Denkas retail for around $900 now if not more (if you can even find them instock)
Direct Isamitsu AS is I believe $600 +shipping with maybe 4 month wait.
Isamitsu is looking like a bargain and the grinds look awesome.

Not the first retailer to offer Isamitsu but first with a ludicrously high price tag.
I guess either you have not read my post, you cannot read or you are ludicrously bad in even the most basic of mathematics.

Edit: sorry if this was a little harsh but one cannot claim a distributor has ridiculous prices when all they do is pay taxes and customs.
I have never bought from Karasu but their prives are super fair.

And well, i hope it goes without saying that for people from US to order in europe of course you will pay that 28% VAT+customs too..

All the best
Jens

You seem to forget that for an import into europe it is (~600$+shipping)*1.28 (import tax 20% and customs 8%). To me it looks like a bargain (for europeans only of course) considering you do not have to wait.
Feel bad for y’all over there. Point was cost for a KU blade. My Anryu AS 240 KU at 260 US is a great performer.

No I didn't read your post before I posted. If I'm spending that much and there is the opportunity to save a bit of money and customise, I would always order direct. For example I really dislike the Isamitsu hammer marks. That would be the first change.

Not the first retailer to offer Isamitsu. As already mentioned I'd order direct which gives me some say on what I receive. Handle is nice on that one though.
I haven’t seen their AS anywhere else, but maybe I missed it. Seems like everyone just had their white steel. Agree that their knives are pretty pricey, but I haven’t had the pleasure of using one.
