Line cutting done first;
Heat treatment second;
Use clamps to ensure that wide plates will not deform inwards;
Drawing in different directions will affect the contrast effect after pickling!!!

Looks like the 110 layer dual core nakiri pattern knife I have from Xinzuo. Is the blade dual core (coreless) damascus? If so, what are the two steels? If not, what is the composition?

If it helps this a choil shot of MagnaCut cleaver from Xinguo, he’s one of the best sharpener I know

Having trouble finding Xinguo blades on line. Have tried a few Chinese gyuto as gifts. They have forged blades quite a bit cheaper than Japanese gyuto. They have own version of chrome moly steel. I like it better than VG10. I was selective as many had wonky profiles like some Shuns.

Always used cleavers from Chinatown Honolulu for work. Many had excellent grinds. The grind on that magnacut makes for good vegetable cleaver. I just removed a seed from avocado with my thinned magnacut blade. Didn't affect blade at all. I wouldn't do that with some of my Uber thin carbons I know that from experience.

Not sure if you can find any actually forged, many cheaper blade would use something like 9Cr15MoV. Xinguo is a custom maker so it is hard to find outside China, all his knives are individually made.

I have a friend who has found the Hong Kong area Xinguo website and forwarded more details and images to me. The cleaver posted on this page seemed to have a value of $350--which would be a real steal if purchased from a Western source. The nakiri I purchased from Xinzuo/Hezhen has the same pattern as the one shown on this page, purchased from AliExpress:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256...0!12000030752480344!rec!US!#nav-specification
There are also cleavers by Xinzuo/Hezhen that you might find interesting. Not like the custom one posted here, but worth a look.

Xinguo doesn’t have website… He has a TaoBao store, and the poster is literally his business partner… if I remember correctly this one would cost anywhere near 8000 to over 10000 rmb

I gotta tell ya, unless I'm misunderstanding something, I find it bad form if not flat disrespectful to post low budget junk on this maker's post, especially by some means of comparison or alternative.

What this maker has shared is high-end work. It's cool if someone wants to take issue with it for some reason but I can't understand referencing "67 layer Damascus" offerings on Ali Express.

I searched Magnacut on the Ali express site all folders.

I'm not a Damascus person. Have a really nice random pattern damascus gyuto G3 core steel. Paid a premium for it without handle. Put custom handle bought because of unique damascus pattern. Going to gift it to my Nephew when his family comes to Hawaii next year. Have cut some with it, cleaned & dried been in a drawer ever since. Not knocking Damascus at all just not my cup of tea.

Xinzuo not the same as Xinguo

I don't think this Hezhen nakiri is junk by any means--not even by price. I am especially interested in dual core knives that have gone into production, and I'm comparing it to the dual core series of knives produced by Shun--in collaboration with takefu--and it compares pretty well.

Sigh...

Ok that pattern is certainly not bjorkmans twist as seen here lol... just the amount of damasteel required to make one of these would be like double or triple the cost of that nakiri by the way
For sure, but I'm not sure that the pattern displayed by the OP is bjorkmans twist ether.
