I was fortunate to have a chance in participating in the pass around with a version of this chevron hook grind a couple years back. Even though I was at the tail end of a long line of prior users/participants, I was really impressed with the performance and overall nature of this knife. I’m not even sure if he’s still referring to his books for orders, but I did ask to be added. I was told the wait would be a couple years, which didn‘t surprise me in the least. Congrats on the very nice score!

Spare coreless dammy w african blackwood 242x57, 232g, 6/4.5/2.0/0.7mm (handle, choil, mid, 1cm tip). Thin grind that's just barely not nail flexing, and thin/medium thickness further up the blade. Forward balanced, and profile with healthy amount of belly up front and no dead flat spots. Kinda speechless as there's literally no specs I would modify on this blade. I know it felt really good upon initial inspection out of the box, but the numbers just confirm how perfect it actually is.

These really look fantastic. That’s a helluva knife

This just arrived today, 240mm gyuto. It was sold and labeled as Takada No Hamono and appears to have the same fit and finish as my other knives of the same maker but, I was surprised that it didn't carry the Takada No Hamono emblem/stamp on the blade.

I'll be doing prep work with it this evening to evaluate how it performs.

If anyone seeing this can read the writing on the blade, please let me know what it says. I'm curious if it confirms the maker. -thanks!
