Seriously superb work from @Illyria. Amazing in hand. I can’t emphasize enough how good the fit / finish on this knife feels. Probably the best feeling choil I’ve ever experienced. Looking forward to cooking many meals with this knife
This looks incredible. My RDG from a few years ago is truly stellar and I can only imagine that his work has reached a new level since then. I hope you love this knife!New RDG

Got these in over the weekend. Takada No Hamono 240mm Damascus and Takeda 240mm gyuto (classic version). Won’t be able to use them for a while, as I’m leaving town tomorrow, but glad they came in before I left!

I like everything about this. Gorgeous hamon, profile, handle, serious weight... I've been enjoying my western Shig-inspired LaSeur a lot but this is pretty next level.
Can you take more pics of that LaSeur? That one looked awesome tooI like everything about this. Gorgeous hamon, profile, handle, serious weight... I've been enjoying my western Shig-inspired LaSeur a lot but this is pretty next level.

I KNOW RIGHT!I need a Laseur now. Damnit.
very sweettttt. What's the thickness @spine?Two arrivals yesterday: Isasmedjan 1.2419.05 & wrought iron 243x56 201g masur birch (April pre-order), and Tetsujin 270 k-tip 262x56 266g rosewood. My heaviest gyuto, kinda funny that my Tetsujin 240 is my lightest at 157g!
I haven't used either yet. Liking both handles a lot. The Tetsujin was kind of an impulse buy, I'm sure it's a veggie slayer but I already have a couple veggie slayers. It was just too cool to not buy when it was 15% off at Tetogi. Anyway, sorry for the *****y night time photography.

Happy bday!Does this need an introduction? Newham 26c3 Spicy White @ 65HRC. 245x57 and 211g
No one was home to sign for this guy yesterday so I rescheduled for today, my birthday. Couldn’t be a better gift (that I got myself).
The blade and handle oils were a nice touch, along with the care card.

Thanks! Day off, new knife and quality time with my 9mo old? Couldn’t get better!Happy bday!
On the Tetsujin? I measured 3.6mm at the heel, without much taper so fairly blade heavy (drew a line at the balance point):New(to me)knife day

Hahaha my bad. On the isasmedjanOn the Tetsujin? I measured 3.6mm at the heel, without much taper so fairly blade heavy (drew a line at the balance point):
(EDIT: the tip does get nicely thin though, as it's way off the spine)

Haha, no worries. The Isasmedjan is 5.3mm at the handle, 4.1 at heel, 2.2 about halfway between heel and tip, and about 0.9 one cm from the tip. Nice taper. Balance point pretty much at the paw.Hahaha my bad. On the isasmedjan
