Are you drunk?
What abt gals?
What abt them?

Please sir…

Santokus are just really short, poorly shaped cleavers.

And gyutos are short Santokus.

I think they are usually in the low 50s for height, but similar length gyutos tend to be in the mid 40s so, yes?

I don't know if that's true though. I randomly selected 10 santokus from CKTG and looked up their measurements. Only the Saji was over 50mm.

FKM - 45mm
Kanehide - 46.8mm
Y. Kato - 44.7mm
Kohetsu - 46.4mm
MAC Pro - 47.4mm
Tojiro DP - 46.4mm
Takayuki Grand Chef - 46mm
Takamura VG10 - 46.5mm
Tsunehisa - 45.35mm
Saji R2 - 51mm

Fair. I intentionally prefaced with “I think” because the thought was purely anecdotal.

Santoku are just gyutos that have had the tip snapped off a few too many times

first post from dafox in a few months and here he is starting wars smh...

To be fair I think secretly I prefer big nakiris. But gotta have the tip to look cool

Also fair! I think this is one of the most oft-repeated but also false anecdotes in the kitchen knife community. I used to believe it myself until I got a couple Takeda gyutos (which I also joke are giant santokus) and started paying attention to how tall santokus actually are.
