Hi, I am currently checking the market for a new setuo for sharpening stones and did decide to go with Imanishis stones- not too hard, short soaking and good to go. Also potential usage for polishing.

However, does anybody have experience with the Imanishi Kitayama 1000? Information regarding the 8k and the Arashiyama 1k is widely available but the Kitayama 1k is only rarely available and any information nearly as scarce.

One shop (hiomakivi.fi) mentions that it seem to be the same as the arashiyama, but the size is bigger. Maybe someone tried both stones or at least the Kitayama 1k and can summarize the experience?

I haven't used it myself, but in videos, it seems to have a lot of slurry and a good sharpening feel. The sharpener mentioned that the stone wears down quite quickly and is very soft.
Some sellers claim that the Kitayama 1000 and the Arashiyama 1000 have the same performance, with only the size being different. I’m not sure if that’s true, but the colors are very similar.

I have it and it's pretty nice. Quite a lot of stone for the price.
From my experience, it's not too soft like the Cerax. Sharpening feels good. I haven't tried with polishing.
The biggest downside is the color 😁

Thank you, I was expecting that selling the Same Stone in two different Sizes for the same price would not be logical and therefore there must be some differences. Maybe less abrasive per cubic feet or something like this 😁
But I like the video, not much fuzz and quite nice results in rather short time.

Yeah, at least it will be easy to identify 🤣 unless I have to try the arashiyama in comparison…
But yes, it’s really much stone for the price and if I have to flatten it more often, it doesn’t matter much to me. Do you permasoak your cerax?

I don't but I usually soak it overnight if I plan to do some sharpening.
