Is this a bad knife to buy?

Factory made. Doesn't mean it's bad at all. Just mass produced with very little human involvement. There's still a human aspect to it though.

The DP Gyuto used to be recommended a lot. But the price increased a bunch, making the value decline. Still a good option.

Tojiro DP VG10 Santoku 170mm 3 Rivet

If not, why is it so cheap? $45.00 on chef knives to go.
I’m a big fan of Tojiro under $100. Great for work and great for the wife. Solid price point as well for the F&F.

I’ve broken down thousands of pounds of protein with my Tojiro utility knife. Thinning it wasn't the most fun but I’ve only had to do it once so far. Mine was the normal DP line so it has more weight to it. I had bought one of the 3 rivet ones for a coworker. Works pretty well and is a bit thinner BTE. I’d prefer the one with a bolster though.

A workhorse with a solid construction, thin behind the edge and super easy to sharpen. It's a vg10 core with stainless clad, hence the low price. I don't think you will regret this buy 👍
