This one is sorta charming. Not sure I’d appreciate 285grams though. Kinda surprised because it’s doesn’t look like it would be that heavy. Might have to reach out and double check.
I have one of these. It cuts like a butterfly but has the weight of a beast. Does not wedge on anything.

I donno how it works and why its so heavy esp considering height. It balances at the square kanji too so its not just a heavy handle.

Tang can be quite thick and that is gonna add weight.

And Tetogi are just quoting the stock weight from the Hitohira website for a Hisamoto 240. These can run up to 247mm edge length.. and taller. This particular blade is likely 20-40g lighter than the quoted weight.

Do your due diligence on the Shiggy Mioroshi 'Dena'. The account last posted in 2019.

I've got a 300 TF mab equivalent from tsubaya. It's 436g and straight out of the box it cuts better than it should given the specs, so 460g isn't far off. I think the weight helps it plow through most cuts a bit like a cleaver, even when the edge is fading. The tip is pretty average, but you're not buying a 300 for fine tip work.

However, I bought mine full well knowing that it would be a long term project, raising the shinogi, maybe new handle down the road etc.. In this case some of that has been done for you, but for me at least, that nice polish would be one of the first things to go as it gets worked on.

I've been eyeing off this one too. https://hitohira-japan.com/products/aaa-025-fa270

As a casual observer of the Knifewear thing, just a bit of a potential observation. Being located here in Canada, their primary pricing is likely in Canadian dollars. Then translating it into USD (and the fees they may incur) may make stuff more expensive compared to what you get from a US shop who doesn't due a double currency translation. As well our duties on inbound are different that the US.

Speculation, as I have no skin in the fight. Most of the time, from my perspective, their pricing is no worse or better than me trying to buy from a US shop.
They’re almost 20% more expensive on a lot of the same brands even compared to other Canadian knife stores like https://sharpknifeshop.com/

I don’t have one, does it fill a space my mazaki musashi wakui munetoshi moritaka shibata goko takamura kato Tadafusa tadakoro kajiwara Okubo etc doesn’t fill?
Stiff-ish thin spine laser with upgraded fit and finish on the blade. So performance would be similar to shibata or takamura. Overall package is more traditional gyuto compared to those 2. I don't really find a need to have more than one laser in a given length personally.
