I think it was 2021, maybe 2020. I joined 2019 and the like button was disabled then.Reaction score/like feature got added in 2018 if I’m not mistaken. 6k since then is not bad.

It’s got masayuki on the tang so maybe ikeda tatsuo.
What a stunner. I don't need another workhorse in my life right now but this one is sooo tempting. I'm a bit surprised it's still available.
With some practice, that will come back to you if you throw it.
I'm not sure I fully understand. Are you saying the handles are crappy or the knife?Meh...More expensive than KnS and with crappier handles. But hey, if Yoshikane gets to play in the same pool as Miyabi and Shun, maybe some people accidentally end up with some real knives instead of getting fooled by bling.
Looks like they are saying the handles on the cutleryandmore Yoshikane's suck, but it's nice that normal non-knife people will have good knives if they buy them.I'm not sure I fully understand. Are you saying the handles are crappy or the knife?
Yeah What Tekkz said. I prefer the KnS handles AND KnS is cheaper (by about $90 for a 210mm gyuto after shipping and taxes) so given those two points, there's no reason to buy them from C&M, but of course handle material/appearance is personal preference...and the Irony there is I did just buy a used Yoshikane with a bubinga handle (Same as C&M) on BST yesterday, so clearly I dont think they suck THAT much At least wa handles are easy to replace.I'm not sure I fully understand. Are you saying the handles are crappy or the knife?
someone did!
I have read (doesn't make it fact so please someone correct me if this is in error) that most of the Sakai Takayuki Aogami 2 knives come from Doi's shop...doesnt mean he actually made it himself though. The wording in the C&M blurb supports this, "Produced by various craftsmen, lead by head blacksmith, Itsuo Doi" (emphasis mine)Seems like Cutlery and more just starts to carry tons of Hatsukokoro stuff which include Yoshikane OEMs, good for them I guess. Here’s an interesting one tho, description linking it to Doi, but I didn’t see any mention of him on other vendors site for the same knife

Yeah but that’s the same with Nakagawa and Tanaka, most shops are manned by bunch of peopleI have read (doesn't make it fact so please someone correct me if this is in error) that most of the Sakai Takayuki Aogami 2 knives come from Doi's shop...doesnt mean he actually made it himself though. Similarly, these two knives appear to be the same:

https://www.hocho-knife.com/sakai-t...handle-japanese-chefs-fuguhiki-sashimi-270mm/
Both have the same kanji on front and back, neither have Doi-san's diamond shape stamp, Yet CKTG specifically calls oout Doi as the Blacksmish while Hocho makes no mention.
Oh for sure. I also edited my post to add more detail pertaining to the point I was attempting to make. Mostly that knowing which Takayuki knives are actually Dois is never clear.Yeah but that’s the same with Nakagawa and Tanaka, most shops are manned by bunch of people
Wait until you try using Home Butcher. Search function is your friend.Oh Dang! They have a bunch of Moritakas in stock, including some large rectangles which have been tempting me lately but tend to be elusive...but now we are getting way off topic. That site is weird. Their list of brands when choosing "shop by brand" is incomplete so you cant even find some of this stuff unless you stab in the dark and use the search feature.

Interesting I wonder if these are the 180x 75-80 Michael spoke to me about back in early December. Saying Ide San had these available on hand with or without handles that I could purchase. I wanted the smaller one on the site though so just ordered the last one. Only reason I asked was to get one without a handle. Seems about the same price I was quoted for one.
Is this a fat Chinese clever or a large nakiri in the same style that KJ sold a while back?Interesting I wonder if these are the 180x 75-80 Michael spoke to me about back in early December. Cheers.
