Here is the latest collaboration with my Canadian colleague Matt Sicard!

The blade
I ordered Matt 6 Santoku and I wanted a stainless steel capable of giving it in the kitchen in terms of performance and we agreed to choose AEB-L. Matt really like to make laser grind and believe me this one is precisely in that category. The blade is very thin and despite its short length, working with it is pleasant. I kept one for myself and after two weeks of use, I'm still pleasantly surprised by the performance. Matt managed to push the HRC to 64, which is a very nice balance for the performance and toughness of this steel. The Migaki finish is from Matt, I was not involved this time for the polishing!

The handle
The wood I chose is curly maple and it really shines! It's really nice to see the waves forming with the change of light. I combined everything with an ebony separator and a stabilized zebra wood ferrule. The shape is rokkaku hanmaru, oval below with three angles on top. The balance point is just after the ferrule and it is ideal for a pinch grip. It's honestly a handle that I have a lot of pleasure looking at and I'm very happy to be able to offer this one.

I know this knife sold, but I just wanted to give a massive props to both a great knife maker and also a great handle maker. Whoever's going to get this is going to absolutely love it!
I do absolutely love it!! He was great to work with and communicate on top of it all. He sent some amazing maple treats along with it. And by 'it' I mean that amazing piece. Every detail is perfect. I knew, being the first knife of their full collaboration, that they would knock it out of the park and leave no detail overlooked. Probably on the level of an entry for a knifemaker getting their J.S. or M.S., I imagined him looking over and over, polishing everything and leaving nothing to chance. I imagine that because that's exactly how amazing it looks in person. I used it sparingly but have been slowly integrating it more and more. That polish was just so damn gorgeous, I do not think it could be any better, literally. I didn't take any pictures because he also knocked that out of the park. This guy must piss excellence but there wasn't any aspect that was found wanting.

Wow man, ok I wasn't ready for that! Honestly my greatest pride is that you are happy with your knife, it sounds cliché, but it's completely true. I appreciated every words and thank you so much! Thank you 😜

P.S. I don't care about my girlfriend's reaction, but this message will be framed on top of my toilet so she knows that I can piss excellence 😌
