I’ve slowly jumped down the JNAT rabbit hole
Part of the pleasure/fun for me is the amazing earthy smell
I grab my Hakka all the time because of the amazing wet clay smell. My Ohira had a more metallic scent which I’m not as fond of
Curious if all you weirdos are sniffing stones too and what your favorites are

Yeah they all smell funny

Aoto smell like wet decomposing leaves

A hard narutaki suita from Alex Gilmore was my favorite, it smelled like savory butter

Aizu smell like drywall kinda

Razor stones hardly smell

Some stones smell like fruit tobacco from the users smoking

Yea unsurprising the softer stones exude way more aroma.
My khao men have a plant smell even when dry

My Hakka was also super earthy. My harder stones less so. Its a guilty pleasure which I'm sure is illegal in some States

I don't have any Jnats have always noticed a distinct slate smell from my BBWs whereas my coticules don't have any discernable scent

Iyoto tatami mat smell is amazing. Kinda sweet.

I make my wife smell my pet rocks and even she admits that they smell different.

Good idea to always bring some stone powder with you so you can sniff them whenever you want, you can even invite strangers on the street to sniff your JNat powder

Some of my recent finds.

Top smells like an old garage.The bottom stone smells like rotten eggs, farts and sulphur. The right one needs a sniff.

The unsniffed stone has a cool little gold coloured pattern drilled into one end.

My wife asked me about my “pet rocks” once. 45 minutes later her eyes were totally glazed over and filled with regret. She’s supportive but doesn’t want this level of detail any more lol

One stone smell i don't like. Is the one i get when using my venevs heavily.

Only when really doing some work on them, also maybe the rare occasions theyve needed flattening.

Idk how to describe that smell. But i'm not a fan of it, and its wierd.

Yeah definitely is pungent, almost like fart on my 400/800

I like using dish soap for lubrication and the scent.
