Seems like there used to be nice discounts at Rodriquez Butcher really frequently.
I haven't seen any posted here lately though.
Have these coupons dried up or am I just not paying attention?

Cristel US running 30% sale, their Castel line seems the closest thing to the Lagostina apart from the Meyer Breville stuff

I've had my eye on Cristel for a stock pot. They look like they're pretty nice.

I think the Casteline line is a disc base and clad walls, with removable handles.

The Castel Pro Ultraply line appears to be a 5 ply fully clad, with riveted handles.

That said, the descriptions and photos are VERY confusing to me.

The Castel Pro Ultraply stockpot description suggests a 5 ply fully clad pot, and there's a diagram of the 5 ply construction, but the specification indicates a "Saucepan Mutine (3-ply) construction" and the photo shows a seam as if there is a disc base.

I can't tell if it's a disc base with clad walls, or 5 ply fully clad, or what. If it were disc base with clad walls, I'd probably buy it. I would imagine that it's a disc base and single ply walls, since it makes reference to "Mutine" construction and not "Casteline" construction.

The Castel Pro Ultraply stewpan however, says it has a "stewpan Ultraply base" and seems pretty clearly to be 5 ply fully clad.

I suspect this is similar to Demeyere, where straight walled pieces are disc, and curved wall pieces are fully clad.

Their main claim to fame is having detachable handles... which might be a benefit if you're using them in a really small appartment or for camping.
Their clad pans I saw up close in a store at some point (not sure which line it was) didn't particularly impress me... they were noticably thinner than the 3mm Demeyere pans.

Found this on Amazon, All Clad Fusion tech is rebranded WMF Fusiontec pans since they are under the same French corporate now, it is kind a flop so All Clad discounted it, but really because people misunderstood what these are, they are not ceramic non stick, but rather enameled heavy gauge steel pans, more similar to Dutch oven

Bit of correction here, it is technically a rebrand Silit Silargon cookware, still under Group SEB, their stuff looks interesting, sadly this didn’t took off in US, looks alike great alternative to Staub or Le Crueset, the marketing completely mixed it up with ****** ceramic nonstick

I asked Cristel, and they confirmed that the Castel Pro Ultraply stock pots are a 3 ply disc base and single ply sidewalls.

If it's enamelled carbon steel then it's usually not a great alternative at all. Invariably they are too thin so thermal performance is horrible.

Does the handheld unit work with all their bags? Can you use generic bags with it?

No. You have to use the bags specifically made for it.

This is the handheld unit: https://www.foodsaver.com/food-vacu...eld-food-vacuum-sealer-black/SAP_2159391.html

And here's the bags: https://www.foodsaver.com/bags-cont...-zipper-gallon-bags-12-count/SAP_2159423.html

You zip the bag closed then take the sealer and place the end over the circle on the bag. That circle is actually a valve and that is what allows it to vacuum seal.

Most of their bags require heat sealing and regular zipper bags obviously won't have the round valve.

Still super handy and use mine all the time. If you watch, there's frequently two-for-one bag sales. If I was doing more volume and/or had more space I'd consider a counter top model but this one does the wife and I just fine.
