I wouldn’t be surprisedThey look kinda cool but I wonder if the price of admission will be ridiculous…
I wouldn’t be surprised
I watched the full video series and was surprised / impressed how much time Ivan took on these, which is definitely worth notingThose were hand sharpened and finished on uchigamori by Ivan, so I’m very curious
I have the 210 and 240. They are workhorse light/midweight munetoshis, highly recommend for munetoshi fans out there. Is this new? Munetoshi Migaki

I feel sick looking at the price tag. I mean it's all perspective, I know but still. Here's one for you big spenders...

Plenty of time for hobbies, like making knives, if you're retired.Kato sure seems busy these days
I don't know where he finds the time.Plenty of time for hobbies, like making knives, if you're retired.
Since when was the Kiritsuke 'old stock'?
I was under the impression he increased his product range when he retiredKato Kiritsuke tip gyuto has been a thing for atleast 4 years if not longer right? “Oldish” stock I guess

Made by hand start to finish by one guy who happens to be a swordsmith and from a sword making lineage. Performance on mine is really really nice. Great convex grinds, better than most of the standard sakai stuff yeah imo. But yes a big part of it is rarity, even when he wasn't semi retired he's not pumping them out like Tanaka or anything. They were originally like $500 knives. For me I think I would be happy spending about 7-800 on one. (I spent more just to get a cool one because I wanted to see what the fuss was about)Is the cutting performance of the Katos that superior? Or is it their rarity that commands the price? Are they noticeably better than the Tanaka x Kyuzo? The k tip grind does look very simar to my Mazaki . . .
