Tsukasa Hinoura ATS-34 135petty + Morihei full SK steel petty+ matsubara A#2 210 gyuto (61mm height)Would like to see everyone's latest knife buy to the knife collection and also why did you get it whats good about it.
I got myself my first laser wa gyuto from M.R stil waiting for it thou.
Its 270mm and is made of AEB-L steel witch i really like working with.
The handle is a custom wa with maple and wenge wood.
Wanted to try a laser so thats why i got it
Decided to check out our new member F.Vaz, a young smith who recently joined us. Almost all of my collection is Western makers and I think I’ve found a very talented artist who has been a pleasure to work with.
I wanted a traditional chef style with western handle 210-220 mm. After discussion, we decided on w2 steel and Ebony handle. The result blew me away! Perfect size and balance, top notch fit and finish, and a screaming sharp edge. Definitely a keeper and probably not my last from him. View attachment 220134

I was going to buy the A#2 rainbow Santo, but the problem is I don't like santoku, so I choose the petty. That Tsukasa petty!
Congrats
You forgot to mention that it also cuts very nicely! While visiting Kamon I got my Custom by @martinhuber
The wood block I sent him looked different when cut but we went with the theme, also wth the saya. Came out quite awesome

A not-terrible looking fill on that spacer shouldn't be all that difficultKind of an impulse buy? But now I own a Yanick sword. Crack in the spacer, but she still cute.

All said and done, I think Toyama makes some of the best all-purpose knives. I particularly like his dammys- soft convex grind, razor sharp, joy to use each time - he won’t be making them for too long, so grab them while you canHad a double NKD today, this day will stay in my memorie.
Toyama Stainless Clad 210mm and a Toyama 240mm Dammy.
This is my second 240mm Dammy because I was an idiot and sold the first one. This thing will stay!
So, have to ask - tsukasa or Kato? One of the bigger pickups in 2022 was two Tsukasa Hinoura river jumps one 210mm gyuto and a 150 mm petty which I purchased from @aboynamedsuita.

How!!!! Billip is impossible to find. Congrats! It’s a true unicorn, an exceptionally rare knifeI think I may have snagged my first true unicorn...
Billipp Split Tang 240mm x 63mm K tip
Ironwood handle with copper rivets
Weight: 316g
Overall Length: 368mm
Balance point: 3mm behind the B of Maker's Mark
I was a little apprehensive about pulling the trigger on this one, but the split tang handle feels wonderful in hand, balance is ever so slightly blade forward in a pinch grip... it's truly a work of art.

Right place, right time I guess. He had it up on his Instagram last week. I had been an admirer of his work for a while, but nothing really stood out to me until this one. It's probably serendipity that this one spoke to me, and was available. How!!!! Billip is impossible to find. Congrats! It’s a true unicorn, an exceptionally rare knife

Sometimes I just can’t resist an unusual knife . Michael at Knife Japan got a few of these in while we were exchanging some emails about his offerings from Okubo and others. I asked myself why wouldn’t I get this gigantic knife? To which I had no answer. After all, it isn’t even half the size of my 600 mm Turkish mincing knife, and this knife fills a hole between my 300 g Wakui Seiryu and the 1500 g Turkish knife. You never know when you’ll need to process lots of bamboo shoots, either. That’s about all I can say about this one, haha.Care to talk about No. 1?
Yeah, it’s awesome. I thought I’d be disappointed for the price but it really performs and has a refined and rustic aesthetic all at once. It’s also my only knife with a walrus penis bone ferrule. That HF is

Haha I had this in my cart and couldn’t pull the trigger. Buyers remorse is definitely a thing but no one talks about buyers regret, haha. One of the coolest blades I’ve come across. Yanick guillotine….
